Feel
anchor spring A (1/s) · 0 = free-running · ~100 = grid-locked (τ 10 ms) · huge = hard quantize
coupling K · 0 = deaf players · high = hive mind · past ~400 the map goes chaotic (mechanical rain lives out there)
phase jitter σ · blooms in the mid zone
uniform coupling lag · + leans the band early · needs K > 0
Rings
count is continuous — float count is the tiling knob. Snap quantizes count to integers, span/rotate to quarter beats. Authority is outgoing pull. Accent past 1 deepens until the offbeats vanish (~2.86). Volume is a mixer gain — speaker only, like mute.
SELECT: tap a beat (shift adds · tap empty clears · held number + A = whole ring). ←→ nudge in ms (shift ×10) · +/− grow/shrink (shift = both ways) · S + drag scales (from the beat under the cursor, else the median) · Esc clears. STOPPED, dragging repositions (sticks); PLAYING, dragging an unselected beat perturbs the physics (springs back) — selected beats reposition.
Presets
Save captures the whole machine; the bank persists between sessions. Click a slot to recall — while playing, the band walks to the new chart. Right-click a slot to rename, overwrite, export, or delete. Right-click a slot or this header for more.
Sound banks
Paste a strudel.json manifest URL and Load. Click a sample to preview · ↑↓ step · ←→ cycle banks · Enter mints a voice · Esc stops · Alt+number auditions a ring.

Feel sliders: type (or paste) past the range and it expands to fit, Fusion-style; the small dot marks the default. Spinners: drag = scrub (hard bounds only) · Shift = fine · click = type · Esc cancels. Right-click any control to copy/paste its value; a ring header for the whole ring; the Presets header for machine JSON via the system clipboard.
Presets recall index-matched: ring 1 stays ring 1, so recall while playing morphs the band to the new chart instead of resetting it.
Reset returns the wheel to bar 1 beat 1 — while playing, it restarts from the top. Grab any hit and pull it; scrub Rotate while playing to rake a ring across the playhead.
Grab a ring's band (between the dots) and drag in/out to reorder the orbits, Photoshop-layers style — order is organization + addressing, never physics; presets fill slots, so reorder-then- recall morphs voices by design. Esc cancels a drag.
Hold a ring number (1–6) for its arrangement layer: scroll = count (Shift = fine) · Ctrl+scroll = select a beat · Shift+drag on the wheel = rotate the ring. Tap the number = mute · Shift+tap = solo (additive; solo does not override mute). No key held = performance mode — the modifier is the mode.
Click a section or ring header to collapse it (controls in the header keep working) — collapsed rings read as a mixer. Collapse state follows the ring through reorders and survives reload.
Scroll over the wheel = zoom about the cursor · middle-drag = pan (Esc cancels) · double-click empty space or press 0 = reset the view (eases home). The HUD never scales — it's a readout, not part of the machine.
Tempo is signed: scrub down through 0 (the freeze — wheel stops, springs keep breathing, crossings still sound) and into reverse. Flip direction live and the playhead re-fires what it just re-passed.
Space = play/stop · R = reset · 0 = reset view.
Sim runs ~120 ms ahead of the ear; visuals render at ear-time. Same seed + same chart + same knobs = same trajectory.
